EasyJet to pull out of Madrid
EASYJET HAS decided to abandon its Madrid base at Barajas Airport from the winter of 2012-2013 in response to higher airport charges, it was announced on Wednesday. The airline will continue to maintain its service connecting Spain to the rest of Europe but will operate from an alternative European base to achieve higher returns.
Airport charges at Barajas have doubled in the past two years and continue to increase above inflation. The company is reviewing options for its Madrid based staff.
